The Door and Window Store LTD was in need of a new website to help promote themselves on the web. they are currently relying on Yell and other online directories but needed a bigger presence. Coldinengland approached them to provide this and their new site is currently in development.

Activation.Org

Exciting times are about to start. I have just been approached by a charity (Activation) who`s main trustee happens to be a collegue of my girlfriend. They currently have a website which is extreemly dated, and it will be with the help of myself and possibly others that I am going to bring Activation into the mainstream on the internet and give them the look, feel and exposure that an organisation such as they are worthy of.

It will not however just be a new website they are going to be getting, I will also be looking at the complete branding of Activation as they currently do not sufficient brand power to effectivly promote themselves.

One of the main things I will be looking to utilise and maximize for activation will be their affiliation with Charities Aid Foundation and the fact that the actual trustees have direct and very personal contact with those they are helping.

Extreme Motion

Extreme Motion are a Windsor based outdoors activity site. They have facilities in Alexander Gardens in Winsdor Town Centre and provide a Skate rink amoung other things. They are currently online but wanted to get an online store so Coldinengland along with ClearJanuary are providing the service to get them up and running. Their current website can be found at http://www.extrememotion.com and their development site can be found using the link above.

The new EM website is using the latest ASP technology and is using a MSSQL backend for the Database Server. EM have opted to use WorldPay - which is a payment gateway provided by RBOS Group and is a very secure method of taking payments online.

Cold In England

Colinengland.net is currently going through a technology change. There are many reasons for this but the most striking is that a current system I wouk on which is a classic ASP site hosted on a Windows 2000 Server needed to be upgraded due to performance issues. So we beefed up the hardware and put it on a chuffing great Windows 2003 Server. after testing it was released live and promptly fell over. Microsoft were brought in to resolve the problem and it is an inherent problem with any server system with IE7 on it. In that it doesnt support ASP Classic completely. How odd, so the system will need to be rebuilt.

So it has become necessary to think about the future. There was the discussion of moving to ASP.NET but that would be too cumersom and would have too bigger footprint so it was decided to move it to PHP/MySQL. As we develop in PHP anyway we wouldnt be doing anything we dont do for clients.

So we are going PHP, we also have a new section for our clients to view their development progress that can be found at MyProjectSite. This has been introducted to allow clients to have moer ability to be interactive with the development process and also have a limited ability to see what other projects are on the burner at the same time.
